Nebraska lieutenant governor candidate Ben Steffen says Gov. Jim Pillen has repeatedly promised property tax relief while the state’s finances have gone from a $1.2 billion surplus to a projected deficit approaching $1 billion. Steffen, a farmer and former Republican running alongside Democrat Lynne Walz, argued that Pillen’s approach has failed families and shifted more of the burden onto local communities
