Attorney General Mike Hilgers announced a historic $17.1 billion multistate settlement with Meta over allegations that Instagram and Facebook were designed to be addictive and exposed children to serious harms, in a press conference captured by News Channel Nebraska. Meta will also be required to implement sweeping new child-safety measures, including time limits, nighttime restrictions, stronger age verification and parental controls, and safeguards around harmful content. Nebraska is set to receive up to $201 million from Meta.
