Dan Osborn, an independent candidate for US Senate in Nebraska, reacted Tuesday morning to President Donald Trump’s remarks about him during a midterm rally stop in Grand Island the previous night. Trump visited the state to rally for state Republicans and, specifically, Osborn’s opponent, incumbent US Sen. Pete Ricketts, who is locked in a heated race with the registered nonpartisan from Omaha. In his remarks, Trump echoed attack lines used heavily by Ricketts, rejecting Osborn’s identity as an independent. Asked for his reaction the next morning, Osborn said Ricketts and Trump are “two peas in a pod,” referencing the former governor’s controversial pardon of a convicted rapist.
