Streamer Hasan Piker defended Nebraska independent Senate candidate Dan Osborn after leaked audio captured Osborn making disparaging comments about some rural Trump supporters. In the recording reported by the Omaha World-Herald, Osborn described a hypothetical Trump supporter in Red Cloud as caring primarily about being on the “winning team” and said their lives “probably f*****g suck.” Osborn has since said that is not how he views Trump voters broadly, arguing instead that many are angry because they feel ignored by the political system. Piker argued that poor conditions for working people are precisely why candidates like Osborn run for office. Osborn is running as an independent in Nebraska’s 2026 Senate race against Republican Pete Ricketts. There is no Democratic nominee on the general-election ballot.
