John Hansen, president of the Nebraska Farmers Union said its “time for a change” during a press conference on Capitol Hill this morning, Sept. 16. He criticized the Republican-led Congress for delays in passing an updated farm bill as farmers face rising input costs, low commodity prices, high interest rates and pressure from tariffs. Hansen repeated that the farm economy is facing its worst financial crisis since the 1980s. “When trade wars break out, farmer noses always bleed first and worst and longest,” he said.
