Justin Solomon, candidate for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents in Omaha’s District 4, said he’s running because he doesn’t want to pass along another tuition increase. He pointed to Purdue, which he said hasn’t raised tuition since 2013, while the NU system has raised tuition 17% over the last four years. “Something’s broken,” Solomon said, adding that he’d bring the same discipline he uses running Integrated Life Choices, a company that provides services to people with developmental disabilities and gets most of its funding through Medicaid. Solomon is running for the District 4 seat, which covers eastern Douglas County. He will face former Nebraska First Lady Susanne Shore, the wife of US Sen. Pete Ricketts, on the Nov. 3 ballot.
