Independent U.S. Senate candidate Dan Osborn argued during Nebraska’s Senate debate that the federal 45Z clean-fuel tax credit should be changed so corn growers receive a larger share of the benefit instead of the “lion’s share” going to ethanol producers. He then accused his opponent, Republican Sen. Pete Ricketts, of siding with big corporations over Nebraska producers. Ricketts comes from the billionaire family behind TD Ameritrade and has poured millions of dollars of his own money into his political campaign.
