WATCH: US House candidates in Nebraska clash over Medicaid cuts during live debate

Candidates for Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District voiced sharp disagreements over federal Medicaid cuts during a televised Sept. 23 debate hosted by Nebraska Public Media. Incumbent Republican Rep. Mike Flood defended his vote for the cuts laid out in President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” while Chris Backemeyer, his Democratic challenger, called Flood “out of touch” with the patients who rely on the assistance. Flood and Backemeyer will face off next at the ballot box on Nov. 3.
